Macintosh switch. I'm considering switching to a Mac system, abandoning my Windows based PC. But how can I retain my email history in Outlook Express. Can it be copied over in any way to the Mac ?

Since Mac is UNIX based and MS Windows is NOT, no I don't think so. HOWEVER, I THINK there IS an Outlook program for MAC.Just curious, why do you want to switch? Also you might want to try the apple forums. You are posting in the MICROSOFT forums, pretty much enemy territory, since you are planning to switch LOL.Young and Learning... Have Mercy.

I would suggest getting a GMAIL Account http://www.google.com/mailand slowly forwarding your important emails to it. Gmail has plenty of storage space. But you could backup you Outlook Express Files doing this:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/270670and possibly use Micorosft Entourage as an intermediary to reimport those files back into a Machttp://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20040325164915651but I think it would be a point and an Entourage license might cost big bucks. There are probably Open Source Email Clients that are capable of reading Outlook Express backups, but I don't know of any. Finally, I'm not sure I agree with Chao's comment about this being enemy Mac Territory:Microsoft is encouraging Mac Users to buy the Mac Version of MS Office. Microsoft is encouraging Mac Users to Virtualize XP via a Mac with VM Ware Fusion.Microsoft is supposedly trying to get Apple to use Microsoft Bing as the default search provider for the next iPhone.Microsoft is supposedly working on tools for Visual Studio to target iPhone applications.I think Apple and Microsoft are considering a little closer relationship...

Somehow I HIGHLY doubt MSFT wants any user switching to MAC.Anyway, let's not get me started on MAC VS PC... I could rant for hours...Personally at the end of the day *#$% 'em both. One can also backup using OEQB (www.oehelp.com/OEBackup/), but the MAC will be unable to read the dbx files and decipher them. The best shot would be to save or extract the messages as eml files (www.oehlep.com/DBXpress/) and then when one has the individual messages it may be possible to incorporate them into the MAC mail client, depending upon what they are using. steve "Shawn Eary" wrote in message news:88e68762-ae4e-44b7-b856-ec46f9e802c8...I would suggest getting a GMAIL Account http://www.google.com/mailand slowly forwarding your important emails to it.
