I have several W7 PCs and a Mac machine(OS X 10.6.7) on my home network. My problem is that there is one particular W7 PC among others which the Mac can not access even though all other W7 machines can. I can see the shared folders but if I attempt to open them, then the following error message is displayed: There was an error connecting to the server '192.168.100'. . . . Ping from the Mac goes through to this problem W7 machine.

Thank you for your reply. My problem involves two different OS systems but since I am new to OS X I decided to seek help from Mac users and posted Mac users' forum. The forum discussion has been going for four days now but no resolution is in sight yet. The access I am referring to in my original post is for the purpose of file sharing. The user name and the password is set the same for all OSes including OS X. All computers(W7s and OS X) are on the same workgroup. On Windows, the share permission is set for Everyon, Read only. All W7s can access any other machine including OS X. OS X machine can access any other machine but one particular W7 machine. My problem is that the OS X is unable to access the file share hosted by this particular W7 machine. Specific simptom is that on OS X, the user name and the password is accepted and the share folders are displayed but if I attempt to open any one of them then the following message is displayed: Connection Failed There was an error connecting the server . . . . From the OS X's point of view, there appears to be something different with this particular W7 machine from the rest of the W7 machines. I appreciate your further assistance.

My Apple machine is MacBook Air and I do not see the "Connect As" on the desktop. What I am doing is on Finder, GO -->Connect to Server and type in SMB://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is IP of the W7 machine. Then, type in the user name and password. The shared folders are displayed but at this point I am supposed to click OK. If I do that the error message as previously posted is displayed.

Hi, On the specific Windows 7 machine, please disable your security software like firewall or antivirus software to test. Sorry for my late reply. I have been on oversea trip since July 10 and will be back home by mid August. I will double check what you suggested and post back after I am back home.
