MY OWN SECRET GARDEN! I wanted to preserve my privacy in a small area of my PC, that I can go to without ever having prying eyes.
I looked at facebook and liked it immensely. My whole hometown, and my family and families family was there and "friends". Most used a fake name but as time goes on and you have known these people all your life, your real name gets used, new people get added and the next thing you know, your name and pc information is public knowledge. So I thought I would just not ever use or mention anything about my private address and area. It is a fairly public area on its own but used only for business and school. I often need to use my real name for banking and school, so, I made the rule "Never the 'twain shall meet." Today I found a STRANGEr in my private area, begging to be friends on facebook! And believe me, it was a strange, stranger. My theory of "never the twain shall meet", only lasted 6 months. What can a person do to preserve privacy and still have a normal social life on programs like facebook? 1 person needs an answerI do too

Hi lShady,I understand that you would like to know how to keep your personal information private. There are few things that you need to do.1. Install a security software like Microsoft Security Essentials and keep it up-to-date. You need to do this because the number of fake software lurking the Internet is endless. These fake software alerts may enter Facebook as well. This may be asking for your personal or billing information alluring you to purchase their fake product. Microsoft Security Essentials will keep you from these.2. Never divulge or give your personal/billing information to anyone you do not know. That is very basic and self-explanatory.3. Never give your user account or Facebook password to anyone - never!4. If you suspect that something peculiar is happening or your computer is behaving differently, run a Full Service Scan of the OneCare Safety Scanner located athttp://safety.live.com.I hope this helps.

If your question is about Privacy in Facebook. Then Facebook make some improvement in Privacy Setting. You should make change to your privacy setting. That is good idea to don't put your real name in online network as long as both bad guys and good guys are there. For facebook have a look at this:http://www.facebook.com/privacy/explanation.phpAlso you should protect yourself against hackers and Malware by update Windows and update Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware and keep firewall running . Windows Security Center in control panel would help you by alerting you what else you need to keep secure.Don't give your personal information in online and social network unless you really know and trust someone such as your friend that you know and see give his or her account and you add .
