MSinstaller 3.1: Not enough storage to run
I am trying to install MSinstaller 3.1 and getting this error message: Not enough storage is available to process this command. I a KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/106167 which I followed exactly. Pushed the decimal to 6, then 7, then, 8...all the way to 12 which is the max. Each time I tried rerunning the installer and everytime I would receive the same error. Any thoughts? I am running Windows 7 Professional.

How much physical memory do you have? Do you have a pagefile.sys? If so, low large is it? Renee "MODERN PROGRAMMING is deficient in elementary ways BECAUSE of problems INTRODUCED by MODERN PROGRAMMING." Me

1. This KB is for legacy NT operating system. Not sure if it applies to W 7. 2. Will you specify the error more exactly, including the error ID, and other parameters from the Event log? Regards Milos

I would try registering your current installer properly before you upgrade to the higher version msiexec /regserver http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324516 Another thing to check is your event viewer if the system is reporting correctly disk space. Sometimes you find an error in the event viewer that your system is out of space while when you go to explorer and check the free space there is a lot of free space.

The setup error message that reads after I try to install MSI Installer is Not enough storage is available to process this command. Installation did not complete. In windows logs, event ID 4373: The description for Event ID 4373 from source Windows Installer 3.1 cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event. The following information was included with the event: Windows Not enough storage is available to process this command. I downloaded the installer directly from MS support website. Can't imagine it is corrupt.Mike

It's a 64-bit OS, and I was told to have MSinstaller 3.1 on my CPU for our anti-virus package to install properly. I don't understand either, but you know tech support.Mike

I just got this error also on my 32 bit did as us suggested with the scan no integrity issues. I was tying to fix my .Net problem I am having to install 3.5 and verify the installs of .Net 1 through 3.5 turned on and off .Net 3.5 in windows it is still not installed I was trying to run a manual install of 3.5 to see if that was the problem and update my installer. When I got the error same error msg was checking for a solution and ran across this post. Roland Wade PO1 USN Retired

MS installer is the product in windows that installs programs on your computer. It comes in the windows OS software so you can install software with autorun or setup.exe files It was updated for wins 7 and the update is required for installing certain software like the one I posted.Roland Wade PO1 USN Retired

I though the question is on the installer error msg not the virus or security issue, if I was wrong apology.Roland Wade PO1 USN Retired
