MS remote desktop mouse cursor acting funny
H When I remote login to my other computer running Windows 7 from another computer running windows 7 as well on the same network (LAN). The mouse cursor on the REMOTE PC acts strangely. I often get a 'resize current window' mouse cursor when I am doing file renaming (I should be getting a blink text entry cursor for changing file names). It always use the inappropriate cursor icon for the task happening right now. Like it is unable to update the correct cursor for the current task happening. It seems to be stuck, just showing the cursor icon for the last task. This issue doesn't happen right away after I remote logged in. It happened after I start working on something e.g. try to rename a file in Windows Explorer.

Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet forums. Does the issue occur if you log on the machine locally? “Resize current window” error indicates that the resolution on Remote Desktop Session needs to be adjusted. Please try to change the resolution and resize the window. Moreover, you could open Remote Desktop Connection, click Options, click Experience, select Font smoothing, Show window contents while dragging, dis-select Visual styles to see how it works. As a work around, I recommend you to click on a file, press F2, and rename it. Best Regards Dale Qiao TechNet Subscriber Support in forum. I 'd love to give you feedback when the problem is solved. Sorry it is still like that. I still get all kind of mouse cursors except the one should be showing the current task after trying what you replied. e.g. drag to add new files cursor icon. Please leave this thread open for others to try to solve as well. Thanks!

Hi, How it works? Do you resolve the problem? As I understand that the mouse cursor appears incorrect status. This can happen if you use incompatible mouse cursors or Aero theme conflicting on RDP session. I would like to give further troubleshooting: 1. Log in the Remote Desktop locally and see how the cursor works. 2. Click Start, type: Change Cursor, select “ Change how the pointer looks”, manually select the built-in cursor, uncheck the box “Allow themes to change mouse pointers”.
