MS Weather Gadget & Weatherbug Gadget do not work
MS Weather Gadget displays err msg. "Cannot connect to service". I have looked at the format, location, region, & language settings. They appear to be correct i.e. English (US) & US. This gadget used to work. But recently stopped working. It may have stopped as a result of a recent MS Windows 7 update. The MS Weather Gadget opens but a location cannot be set. It has the current location as New York, New York. The Weatherbug gadget just chews up cpu cycles trying to find the location. What else can be checked/configured etc.? Hi decarter10009,Try uninstalling the gadgets, the installing the latest version:1) Right-click the desktop and then choose Gadgets. Right-click each of those problem gadgets, and choose Uninstall.2) Click Get more gadgets online, and re-download and install the gadgets. If they still exhibit the same behavior, try rebooting the computer (there's a way to restart all the services that gadgets depend on, but rebooting would be the easiest and most complete course of action). If that doesn't work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the gadget platform:1) Click Start, type feature and then click Turn Windows Features On or Off.2) Uncheck Windows Gadget Platform. Click OK.3) Return to step 1, and this time, turn on the Gadget Platform. Click OK again, then reboot.Post back your findings. If this was helpful, please vote. If it solves the issue, please click Propose as Answer. Thanks!

Hi Shawn,After doing some more troubleshooting, the issues seems to be with Net Nanny. When Net Nanny was disabled both weather gadgets worked without issue. A support ticket was entered for Net Nanny. Let's see if they can fix the issue. Thanks for your insights.

I don't believe that the problem is with Net Nanny (not totally anyway). I don't use Net Nanny or anything similar and my WeatherBug Gadget hasn't worked most of the time for the past two or three weeks. On my desktop, I use: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, Microsoft Security Essentials, and nothing else for security purposes. I use Office 2007, IE8, Firefox 3.5.6, Thunderbird e-mail, and VLC for viewing videos. Not much else other than the basics. On my notebook, I use: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and then all the other software listed for my desktop. WeatherBug just shows -- for all the values. I don't see any crazy amounts of CPU usage or anything.

Mine has done that once or twice before, but it was usually after I mucked around with network settings (I tend to fix what's not broken fairly often). It hasn't done it to me a in a while though, at least a few months. If this was helpful, please vote. If it solves the issue, please click Propose as Answer. Thanks!

The one I downloaded a few months ago was 1.1.0.8 and the latest I could find now was also 1.1.0.8. I have noticed that when it quits working, if I remove it and then re-add it (not uninstall), it cannot find any cities. But if I uninstall it and then reinstall it, it will again locate locations once again --- for a little while.

Would you mind giving a link to the support ticket (if one exists?) I'd like to see this resolved, too. My gadgets worked until I installed net nanny.
