MS Security Essentials error on startup
Hi;
In a continuing effort to understand the errors and warnings I find in Event Viewer, I am now down to just one pesky error.
"Session "Microsoft Security Essentials OOBE" stopped due to the following error: 0xC000000D"
But Security Essentials is running, and reports that all is ok.
I suspect that there is some sort of issue with the startup of the service, and this is not a serious error.
Anyone have any advice on this?
Thanks

A .38 second Google search found this as the best solution:
"Go to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Security Essentials\Support and delete MSSEOOBE.etl and reboot. After reboot this file should be recreated and the error should be gone. I have found that when you delete MSE this folder remains and the files
get updated when you run MSE. It looks like the one file was not updating properly and causing the failure. After it was working I did another test. I deleted MSE and also all the files in the Support directory. I then reinstalled MSE and everything is still
fine. If you look at the error under Detail it will point to this file."

Going back to the old version may eliminate the issue for now, but you will eventually need to upgrade or your status will be shown as at risk.
Searching for the error message comes back with a bunch of results that are not MSE errors (though yours is) that seem to indicate an unknown exception.
I assume that you've uninstalled and reinstalled and still see the startup error. The best that I can suggest is either ignoring the error or opening a support case. I think I'd go with the latter. If this is a commonly reported issue, perhaps there is a known
cause.
To open an email support case, start here:

Yep; That fixed it. Rebooted twice since deleting the file, and haven't seen the error. File was re-created.
