MSOutlook2003 stops sending emails after working for many years!
Yesterday, Outlook2003 suddenly stopped connecting to the outgoing SMTP server on one of my hosted domain accounts (hosted by inmotionhosting)My connecting ISP account (verizon.net) continues to work just fine.InMotionHosting suggested:setting outgoing SMTP to verizon's outgoing SMTP server / authentication on / use verizon's logon credentials for the outgoing server. Here's were it gets weird. After changing my settings as described and clicking "Test Account Settings..." it reported that everything connected and I did receive a test message from my domainname address. However, when I created an email and attempted to send it using the domainname address, Outlook hangs in the "preparing to send/receive email" mode and the email never leaves the Outbox.Have spent 4 hours with technicians from both InMotionHosting and Verizon. They all agree that all of the mail settings are correct. Verizon insures me that it is not blocking any ports between 25 and 465.Help, going nuts here w/out being able to send emails for over 2 days now.1 person got this answerI do too

Hi DRB123, This could potentially be a problem with your Outlook installation. Are you able to do a System Restore to a point in time when this problem did not exisit? If so please give that a try. You will not loose any of your emails this way but will revert back to the settings which worked 4 days ago or whatever duration of time when this problem was not present. Another option would be to try and repair outlook which can be done from the Help menu, you might need your Microsoft Office disk to do this. Also, do verify that your sever names have been entered correctly, use the link below from Office.Microsoft.Com for help on this. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA010962761033.aspxExpand the section for adding a Verizon acount to Microsoft Office Outlook. Hope this was helpful.Regards,Max
