MIM2016 - List of new features and requirements
I am looking for a straigth list about the new features of MIM2016 but have not found yet.
Is there anywhere a clear list where are new features, requirements and so on? I heard from somewhere that MIM contains for example multitasking for sync process, but now I can't find anything about it. Also any info about MIM performance would be nice,
how much memory and processor speed it requires and so on.

This is like the product release that never happened. All the good links are on the DVD image splash page.

2xTsei, there is nothing ground breaking in MIM 2016 RTM. Think of it as Service Pack 2 for FIM 2010 R2.

The PAM feature is the biggest I think. For the certificate management part, I cannot find anything but the fancy modern app that they've developed for the smart card management.

Thomas,
It doesn't matter that the new product is just an evolution of the old product. There are cosmetic changes and label changes and default account name changes that are significant enough to cause confusion if you try to use any FIM guides to configure
MIM.
Also, MS decided to rebrand FIM as MIM. If they wanted their documentation to stay the same, they should've named the product FIM 2010 R2 SP2. They went with a rebranding instead, so it's on them to get their product docs updated.

Hi,
Though there are no published set of features yet, below are some of the set of features in MIM2016 (you could consider this as a next version of FIM2010 R2
- Standardized Active Directory attributes and values
- Partitioned identities for synchronization to the cloud
- Easier-to-deploy reporting connected to Azure Active Directory
- Preparation of user profiles for Microsoft Office 365
- self-service password reset with Multi-Factor authentication
- New REST-based APIs for AuthN/AuthZ
- Self-service account unlock
- Certificate management support for multi-forest and modern apps
- Privileged user and account discovery
- New Windows PowerShell support and REST-based API
- Workflow management: elevated just-in-time administrator access
- Reporting and auditing specific to privileged access management
Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help.

Hi rwgeach, I think they've focused on bringing new product features and functionality, rather than updating references to the former 'FIM' product.

It would be nice to have at least some books or training. It looks very unprofessional to release a product without at least some deployment, configuration and administration guides, specially from a company with the presence that Microsoft has in the world.
Unbelievable!

I agree. There are two books on FIM that I know of, don't think the stuff is changed so much from them. I'm more interested in the certificate management part which isn't very widely used.

Thanks for all! This has been a great discussion!
But does anyone saw anything about the performance?

Hi Hema,
Given the lack of documentation, can you indicate where the following functionality would be found in MIM?
- Preparation of user profiles for Microsoft Office 365
- Privileged user and account discovery
I'm also assuming the following are really related to the PAM implementation and not something that the core MIM components have been updated to support. Can you confirm?
- New REST-based APIs for AuthN/AuthZ
- New Windows PowerShell support and REST-based API
- Workflow management: elevated just-in-time administrator access
- Reporting and auditing specific to privileged access management
Thanks,
Marc
