You cannot install MDAC 2.8 on Windows 7. It is an operating system component and is shipped with Windows 7. Because it is already installed as part of the core OS, it is not "downgradable". What problem does the application have with newer WDAC? First, please let us know why you tried to install the MDAC 2.8. As the MDAC is changed to the WDAC, and it is intergrated in Win7 OS, you are not able to install in it. If you have trouble with WDAC, you can refer to the following link to troubleshoot Windows DAC/MDAC. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms693114(VS.85).aspx Hope this can help you.John

I have this same problem. We use a program that tried needs MDAC 2.8 to run it's platform. If I try to access the program I get a long list of Active X errors when running Windows 7 64bit. Is there a work around for this?

I too am having this problem with a program that ran fine on XP sp3. Now that I have Win 7 home ed, 64bit I get this message when I try to run the program.. "Error creating object. Please verify that the Microsoft Data Access Components 2.1 or later have been properly installed". I've searched all forums and Microsft but cannot seem to find a solution. I hope someone finds a solution

Here is a classic case of using ADO to access a webdav file system Dim strm As ADODB.Stream strm.open "", "url=http://www.mediqsolutions.com/webdav/Tmp/Test.txt", adModeRead, , User, Password It worked perfectly on XP, but failed on Windows 7.
