MBAM Recovery and Hardware DB Entries are missing
Hello, I have a MBAM and SQL instance installed on one machine. The MBAM installation was successful. The MBAM GPO is using HW compatibility check. Later I have installed MBAM agent on 4 laptops. I am able to see information for all of them in the Reports section and there are entries in MBAM Compliance status DB. However the problem is that there is no entries in the MBAM Recovery and hardware DB and "RecoveryAndHardwareCore.Machine_Types" table is empty. In result I am not able to manage the HW compatibility on the MBAM. I have installed a few MBAM servers and that is the first time I see such issue. May you please advice what could be the reason and how to fix this? Thank you in advance and kind regards,

Hi Manoj, I am still experiencing this problem. I will try to change the MBAM policy stopping the HW compatibility check and to see if the recovery will be uploaded into the DB. We still cannot find any specific reason for this problem. Your help will be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance and kind regards, Dimitar

If you use Allow Hardware Compatibility Checking Policy then: There is a 24 hr check delay when you make a machine as compatible from MBAM console. To do remove the timer, delete the below 2 keys. HKLM\software\microsoft\MBAM\HWExemptionTimerHKLM\software\microsoft\MBAM\HWExemptionTypeRestart the MBAM agent: (BitLocker management client service) Or Change the value of HKLM\software\microsoft\MBAM\HWExemptionType from 0 to 2. O = unknown 2= compatible. Restart the MBAM client agent service and then we will prompt the user to start the encryption process when we hit the next client frequency which is 90 mins by default. I hope this helps. -ManojManoj Sehgal

Thank you Manoj, The problem is that we cannot go to this step - make a machine as compatible from MBAM console. The reason is that there is no entries in the MBAM Recovery and hardware DB and "RecoveryAndHardwareCore.Machine_Types" table is empty. => therefore the Hw compatibility list in the MBAM console is empty. It is important to say that there is a communication between MBAM agent and MBAM console because the reports are working fine and the MBAM Compliance status DB is updated accordingly. It looks like some part of the information collected from the mBMA agent is not written into MBAM Recovery and hardware DB? Thank you again and kind regards, Dimitar

Make sure clients are talking to MBAM Recovery & hardware service only. Check GPO under MDOP MBAM ->Client Management ->MBAM Services -> Check the MBAM Recovery and Hardware URL, it should be as same as what mentioned in help screen on right. This should fix the issue. Manoj Sehgal
