MAPPED location - multiple errors!
MAPPED location - multiple errors! any guidance would be appreciated, i'm not an advanced user so be gentle! I am having random errors which are ultimately dropping a mapped connection from one xp machine The shared location is sitting on a windows7 machine, machines are working within a workgroup my machine(xp) is having trouble staying connected to the shared location.. i have recently done a completely fresh install and new hard drive on my machine due to virus i get five varying errors when connecting or already connected to the mapped location, mostly connects fine in the morning and then randomly disconnects through the day: 1 - there is not enough server storage to process this command 2 - the specified server cannot perform the requested operation 3 - the local device name is already in use, the connection has not been restored 4 - mapped location will open then immediately close 5 - map will open and then will give an error message either 1 or 2, when trying to access a folder so basically something is going on which either boots my machine off the connection or something isn't quite right.. ALL THE WINDOWS 7 MACHINES CONNECT TO THE SHARED DATA FINE AND DONT LOOSE THE CONNECTION. IT IS JUST THE XP MACHINE THAT RANDOMLY LOOSES THE CONNECTION. i have tried: - checking the time on my machine and machine connecting to - have tried increasing the IRPStackSize on the machine i'm connecting to - made sure NetBios is enabled on all i cannot seem to resolve this and it is now doing my head in! any help appreciated.. - edit: noted this afternoon when loosing the connection, or getting partial connection.. rebooting the XP machine did not resovle the connection, but re-booting the windows 7 machine, and the connection was established again.

Hi, Have you tried to mapped the drive via IP address? If not, please try the IP address. The firewalls should be disable in the meantime.
