MAC address no longer shown/supported on PPP adaptors in Vista?
Hello, The organization I work for has a software application that uses MAC (physical) addresses for network adaptors to help authenticate users. This is working quite well for approx. 1600 users. The issue we are now encountering is that Vista Home Premium, Business, and Ultimate seemingly do not either see or report the MAC address for a PPP adaptor, i.e. WWAN CDMA/ UMTS /GPRS devices (Blackberrys, wireless air cards, etc). I have tried 3 methods of attempting to read the addresses via code, and every way I can think of manually. In Windows XP SP2 and SP3 it works fine. Has anyone else encountered this or have any experience in working past this issue? I have some code-based workarounds in mind, but would prefer to be able to retrieve those addresses. Any help is greatly appreciated, David / TigerG

Hi, To find the network adapter's MAC Address, you can type ipconfig/all, and then press Enter. To find the BlackBerry's MAC Address, follow these steps: Click the Menu key, then select Options, then Status. Find WLAN MAC and make a note of the address, which will appear without hyphens. If the above does not work for you, please use an Internet search to find instructions on locating the MAC address of your BlackBerry. Be sure to include your BlackBerry's model information in the search terms, as in: locate blackberry 7210 mac address. To find the MAC Address via code, you'd better use the Microsoft Developer Network: Windows Vista Developer Centerhttp://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsvista/default.aspx Thanks.
