Lync voice call diconnected after 30 sec when calling from internet

Hi,

I'm having a problem when participating to a Lync Conference Call. I have a Lync 2013 Client and I want to participate to conference call hosted on a Lync 2010 server. When my pc is connected to the enterprise network where the Lync Server belongs I can participate regularly.

When I'm trying to connect from an external network the Lync client disconnects the audio after 30 seconds (always 30 seconds). The ability to chat and the application sharing keeps on working but the voice call disconnects. If I rejoin I'm again disconnected after 30 seconds.

Where can be the problem?

Please check the services on Lync Edge Server are started.

Check the DNS record in Public DNS server for A/V is created.

Please check the required port for Lync edge server are opened.

if that fails, try to use Lync Logging Tool on Lync edge server to collect trace files for troubleshooting.

Hi,

I did 2 things:

1. tested the Lync infrastructure with https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com; no anomaly were found. All lights are green.

2. tested the connection with a Lync 2010 client. It works, no disconnection. Why does my Lync 2013 client get disconnected?

Thank you.

Do the following steps.

Install Lync 2010 and Lync 2013 on the same computer, sign in externally one at a time.

Have the Lync logging enabled, collect the log file when Lync client joins the conference call externally.

Then we can compare the log files between Lync 2010 and Lync 2013.

Lync 2010 refuses to be installed on a Windows where the Lync 2013 is already installed. I did not try the viceversa.

Regarding the log files, there are many log files generated from Lync (see pictures below). Which one should I give you?

That is weird. I can install Lync 2010 and Lync 2013 on multiple machines regardless of the order.

Please post the file Lync-UccApi-0.UccApilog.

I've the log ready to post it.

How do I post it? Here I can insert only hyperlink, HTML, code block or picture. No .ZIP fies.

The log is approximately 25,000 lines long. I cannot insert it as a code block nor as body of the answer. What do you suggest?

Thanks.

Hopefully I'm not muddying the waters with my reply, but we had a similar issue. Our issue involved call voice mail from outside - it would hang up after 30 seconds every time, but worked fine internally. In our case the issue was directly related to the ACLs between the edge servers and our CUCM. I realize that this is different from what you are experiencing, but I would suggest checking any ACL issues.

From the log file, it seems that some things wrong on your Lync Edge Server. Lync Edge media relay seems not working.

Please check the similar error in the following link.

You need to check the ports, certificates and IP address for the Lync edge Server.

Check whether you can find any errors on the event view of your Lync edge server.

Is there any reason why with Lync 2010 I can connect and stay connected? Consider that I'm not the owner of the infrastructure neither I'm able to ask for infrastructure correction, since I'm a guest user on the system (I only participate to meetings organized by others).

When I connect with Lync 2010 to a meeting, I see a web page opening that, when connecting through Lync 2013 clinet, does not show up.

Is it helpful?
