Lync shows always Available status...

Hi,

I am confused about, is that the right category to ask the question...

Problem is that, among all of my user, only 1 user showing "Available" status all the time in Lync 2010, even he is sign out.

Lync is removed & re installed, but no change...!

What could be the reason?

Hi,

Is this user also user other Lync endpoint devices such as a mobile phone etc?

Please try to temporarily disable the user for Lync by using the Lync control panel actions menu on the users tab, confirm that the user no longer appears online (you might want to force replication of the address book if he is still appearing), re-enable the account for Lync and see if the problem persists.

By temporarily disabling the account you will not impact the users contact list etc.

Completely removing this user from Lync would no doubt fix the issue, but would impact any database residing user data such as contacts and conferences etc.

Neither way would present you with the cause, but are probably the fastest resoutions.

Kind regards
Ben

Agree with Ben.  If they're not also logged into another device, your fastest path to resolution would be to disable them and renable them.  I typically let the user know what we're going to do, and that they will lose their contacts.  This generally will fix them.  You can export and import the contacts, or spend time digging in, but if it's only a single user I would suggest you just fix it and move on unless you're concerned about this being a larger issue or the user is too important to just let them rebuild their contact list.

In addition to the answers you got, which are the fastest way of resolving the issue, you can find more information by using the following script http://www.ehloworld.com/269 . Basically you run :

Get-CsConnections.ps1 -SipAddr [sip address] -Pool [pool FQDN]

And you should get the FE server that the client is registered on, the Client he is using and the number of sessions.

If you know the FE server that the user registered to, you can use OCS Logger (Logging Tool) to trace for his session, filtered by username, and get the IP address he is connecting from.

Hope it helps!

Hi,

Did you solve the issue with the help of the people above provided?

Did the phenomenon (only one who always show Available in the contacts) happen only for you or also happen for others users?

Please also try to delete user profile on your local workstation with the following path, then restart the Lync client to have a test:

<user profile>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Communicator\
