Lync phone edition boot issue

Hi Guys

We currently use HP 4110 and 4120 Lync phone edition phones and I am having an issue with them. It seems that after firmware version 4.0.7577.4366 I am having some instability issues. If I upgrade a phone to .4455 or .4463 some of the phones boot with now issue, other phones will hang on boot and go no where and I need to flash the phone and revert back to pervious version. In some cases I cannot even revert back to the previous firmware version as the phone will not boot either way, to revert back I hold 4 and 6 on the num pad when I connect the network, so I basically have a few phones that appear to be bricked.

This is a recent thing and seems to coincide with my migration to Lync 2013, Lync 2010 is pretty much out the picture but I don't think this is the cause of the issue. Phones were doing this when they got updated from the 2010 front end as well.

Has anyone seen this kind of issue? I have no idea where to even start to troubleshoot this issue and any help will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Hi,

As Lync Server migration from 2010 to 2013, test the following steps:

1. Please make sure Lync Server 2013 update to the latest version.

2. Then download the latest firmware for HP 4110 and 4120 from Microsoft website again.

3. Reset HP 4110 and 4120 and then update to test the issue again.

Hi Eason

Lync 2013 server is on the latest version and I have downloaded the latest firmware version available. I don't want to push this version out as I can break a lot of phones if the update does not run correctly so I am manually running it against a few phones to see if I have any issues. I have not had a phone crash running the new firmware yet but its still early days.

I am trying to see if anyone else has an issue with Firmware .4455 or .4463 so I know that this was the issue. I also have around 6 phones that I cannot recover and it would be nice to know if I can get a reload on them

Kind regards

Joe

Hi Eason

Just an update on this issue, I have just received a phone that is hanging on boot and that is running the latest firmware version .4463. I am now unable to recover this phone as it can only be reverted to the .4463 firmware.

I think I need to get Microsoft involved in this as I have around 400 phones that could brick if this continues.
