Lync for Mac stops displaying accented characters after a while

Hello

I am seeing a font problem in my Lync install on Lion 10.7.3 that was also present on 10.7.2. This is on version 14.0.1.

System: Macbook Pro early 2010, running Lync 14.0.1 and a fully updated Office install.

The problem is that accented letters stop working after a while.  After launching the programs I am able to write letters like , , and so on.  After a while (around 1 hour or so - not accurately tested in any way) this simply stops working.  If I try those same letters they come out as a, o i .

If I restart Lync, it starts working again.  But then stops working after a while.

The fix is to quit the program and relaunch. I'm using an Icelandic keyboard and character set, and the keyboard works fine in all other programs. It just doesn't seem to respect the accent character.

I see nothing in any logs that might be causing this.

Any advice you can give me?

Hi,there,

Does this happen to another MacBook?

Have you used other character sets and if the accent letters work?

Would you please update all your drivers on your MacBook including Keyboard driver?

Also please make sure you have installed the update package for Lync 14.0.1(Download it from here) and your iOS is fully patched.

Moreover, you can check the event log on MacBook to see if there are some information about this issue.

Besides, this issue is related to Mac,I suggest you post this question on Mac official support forum with the following link

Hope this useful!

It's amazing! After 2 years the problem remains!

I'm having the same problem with Lync 14.0.8 and Mac OS X 10.9.2 (MacBook Pro) with everything updated.

Any plans to solve it?

Hello,

I'm having the same issue, same versions as Eber Ramrez.

I found this in the logs. Maybe will help the engineers to work on a bug fix.

In a few months we will celebrate that the bug has been opened for at least three years! I guess barely any non-english speakers use Lync + Mac?

Just as an added comment, I've yet to see Lync work properly. We have a few Macs at the office, and all of them have the same problem as described by the original poster.

Same here. Three years with the same problem. In my case It's even worse, because I'm a journalist and, without the accents in my writing, people think I'm don't know how to exercise my own profession...
