Lync for Mac 2011 - crashing since update to 14.0.7
After the latest update to Lync 14.0.7, Lync is now reproduceably crashing every time my Macbook Pro resumes from display sleep.  I am running Mavericks 10.9.1.  I am unable to find a direct download for the 14.0.6 update for Lync 2011.  Is there anyway to get that?  All MS KB bulletins point to the same 14.0.7 download on Microsoft download center.  I can remove Lync and get back to 14.0.2 but that build has other issues for me.  Can someone

I am having this exact same problem on Lync 14.0.7 on Mavericks 10.9.  I can't stay on a Lync conference call for more than 5-10 minutes before I'm dropped from the call and my Lync client crashes.

Be nice if they let us have 14.0.6 back.  Only DMG I can find online is the broken 14.0.7

Robert, if you look in your downloads folder you might find the dmg file you are after - I'm a bit lazy with cleaning out these folders but I was able to get back to 14.0.5 by doing this.

No, I stupidly trust Microsoft to patch me using the Auto updater.  Guess I won't do that anymore.

Do you still have 14.0.5 dmg?  I'd sure love to get it..

Hi Everyone

We have a few users reporting this very reproducible error.

We are currently testing the following fix applied via the terminal

cd /Applications/Microsoft\ Lync.app/Contents/Frameworks \
    && ln -s USBHIDWrapper.framework USBHidWrapper.framework

So far it seems to be ok - creating the Symbolic Link

The Problem is because it looks like MS have failed to take in to account that the newer Mac OSes are case sensitive....

I have also noticed that 14.0.7 periodically crashes while on a Lync conference call when another participant on the call is sharing documents.  It is not related to returning from display sleep.  It is happening on my iMac.

Not sure if this is related to the fix provided earlier. Been using Lync 14.0.7 for a little bit now and never had issues with it crashing. Today suddenly during a conference call I had it crash twice during the same conference call.

I get the popup from Lync that it crashed and it would be sending the information to Microsoft, sadly enough I can not find anything in Console on what it might have crashed on. Major change is that now I was using VPN and a Logitech USB headset recognized as Jabra Pro 930. But earlier this week I was using the same combination without issues.

Anyone know where it might have stored the crash log?

14.0.7 would not even open for me either (even tried the symbolic link fix above)

I found the 14.0.6 here and installed it and it is working for me.

HAHA just found this on the same server. This is the flowchart to use the next time AutoUpdate says it wants to update Lync.

kinda NSFW, depending on where you work.

Thanks to Jim Fonseca, I was able to clean uninstall Lync and manually patch to 14.0.6 and my reproduceable Lync crashing has gone away.  Here's a good guide for a clean Lync uninstallation: Technet - manual Lync for Mac uninstall

Hopefully Microsoft will get 14.0.8 right.  *sigh*  Thanks eve

I tried the Terminal fix, and saw the symbolic link in the right spot. but it didn't solve my 14.0.7 crashes.

However I still had the 14.0.6 DMG file, and deleted the new and reinstalled the old one but THAT doesn't work either.

What a PITA.

Robert, Sorry for the delay, I went on holidays.  I've got a copy of this file if you still want it just not sure how to get it to you - not a tech savy as my response might suggest :-) Cheers, Dave

I have the same issue here on my 10.8.5. The command line given by Joe_McGrath didn't work for me. Anyway, my HDD is formatted as HFS+ and not HFS+ case sensitive. So the symbolic link won't create.

This fix is for another issue, it did not stop my crashbug situation.
