Its me again :(

Everything was working okay with LS2013 until we performed an upgrade of our Hypervisor to VMware 6.0 on the weekend.

I tested the basic after the upgrade was completed ( IM, Presence, Remote Connectivity, Video, Audio, Chat, Conference ) however I did not test power point and desktop sharing , polls and whiteboard.)

However today I am getting a ton of different error messages when

1. Performing a PowerPoint Presentation.

2. When Sharing my desktop.

Errors:

1. We can't connect to the server for presenting right now. ( Reference Error Code 141)

2. An error occurred while presenting

3. Network issues are keeping you from sharing notes, presentations, whiteboard and polling

4. Some presenting features are unavailable due to server connectivity issues.

My Webapps server is healthy. Both LS are spewing the usual errors but I don't see anything I can pinpoint and inform the network guys who did the upgrade to fix.

Both my webapps.domain.local and webapps.domain.com\hosting\discovery are giving out the usual XML codes so I don't know what the cause could be.

I have ran https://www.testocsconnectivity.com/ and gotten all green's

has anything changed on the vswitch config during the upgrade? VLAN tagging etc? could you provide some error information from the Lync servers to help?

in the event log on lync server do you see the event where the LS successfully gets the discovery information from the wac server?

Also from the client subnet are you able to get to the discovery url? I know you said but has this been tested from the FE only? please try from the client subnet.

This shows that the discovery was received by LS.

I have tried the webapps.domain.com both Internally and externally and get the XML showing with no issues.

Please try to restart Lync Server 2013 Web Conferencing Service on the issued FE Server, then check if these error happen again or not.

I restarted all 4 servers twice - still getting the same error messages . Desktop Sharing and File attachment works but PowerPoint Presentation, Whiteboard and Polls don't!

Hurrah - So I am going to close my own forum page.

It so happened that I went to each of my VM's and started pinging each other. ( for no reason , just lacked any other thing to do )

So from the Edge - I pinged FE, Office APPS and Reverse Proxy

Reverse Proxy - FE , Office Apps and FE

Office Apps - I Pinged the FE and I got an error. It did not resolve to the proper IP address. The others were fine.

Checked the DNS and discovered that whatever happened during the VMware upgrade changed the IP address of the FE server.

I tried from my PC and it also would also not resolve to the correct IP address.

So the Summary of my Almost 24hours "network issues" relating to powerpoint presentation was due to DNS . Also check your hosts file.
