Lync Reporting - Client Call Data to Archive Database

I cannot find any detailed info regarding how the call data from a Lync client gets to the archive database. As I understand it this is the process for an outbound call to the PSTN:

  • Lync Client makes call
  • Call data is stored in a local cache
  • After the call CDR data is sent to the FE
  • FE trickles the data to the archive database

I relation to a previous question I posed, if a call goes unanswered Lync does not consider it a call and no data is sent to the FE for entry into the archive.

My interest here is to see if I can capture data for unanswered calls before the data is discarded. First I need to know exactly how data is captured, transmitted and stored.

Any information regarding this would be appreciated.

Hi WraithLS3,

Lync Monitoring only logs connected calls. If a call comes in, rings and is disconnected before being answered or directed to Voice mail there will be no log.

For unanswered calls, check if the User Activity Report is what you want.
