Lync Publishing is failing

Hi -

I am using Lync for recording meetings. After recording the meeting, when i try to publish, it is giving me a "runtime error".

If i try to play the recording from the Lync Recordings it says, The recording is corrupted, try playing the original recording from its file location. I am able to play the .WMV file that is under PubData/Content/AppSharing/AppSh3/0/AppSharing_2_0. This just has the video part. The video is in another 2 folders too. The audio is stored in another folder.

Can some one help me here to get an integrated meeting recording that i can publish?

thanks in advance.

Hi

this looks like it may be workstation related issues rather than from the Lync servers. Have you tried updating your Lync client and Windows OS? Have you run any AV Scans or Malware detections?

thanks

I would agree with Mark on the above, it definitely sounds to be workstation related.

How long have you been experiencing this issue for?

Have you installed any additional software on this desktop since the original installation of Lync?

Have you tried running the Lync Recording Manager from another workstation?

Hi,

From your description above, it should be the issue about the Lync client or the issue with OS, please try to test the issue on other computer using the same issued Lync account.

Also, make sure Lync client update to the latest version and then test again.

Best Regards, zhujie

Hi Mark,

I checked the Lync version and it is 2010.

The way i am getting this problem is bit strange. Once recording is complete and if i publish it is working fine.

But while i have published the recording and it is in progress of generating and integrated .wmv file, for some reason it is stopped (in my case, my laptop rebooted).

Then after booting windows and when i try to re publish the recording, it asked for the name to store. I just overwrote the previously stored name. That's it. It shows the status as Error.. in the Windows Media Recordings (.wmv). Then it says the media is corrupted.

I tried to delete the generated file and re publish, but still i get the same error.

I tried another recording and instead of giving the same name while publishing, i gave another name and it worked. I could get the publishable recording.

But still haven't been successful in recovering the failed recording.

Any inputs would be helpful.

thanks!

If I were you i would try same scenario on another PC just to make sure it is a workstation related issue

I tried it copying into another machine.. but still it fails.

I then thought to merge the audio and video files in movie maker. But the movie maker is failing to recognize the .wmv file (really strange!! the same file runs in Windows media player).

Now, i am trying to get some other software to merge the files!!.

Hopefully i will be able to get a publishable recording.

thanks!
