Lync Failed calls

Hello,

we have Lync mediation, frontend and asterisk on site, I noticed some events on the mediation server as below:

1-

The Mediation Server service has encountered a major call completion problem with the Front End.

Front End FQDN: (front end server name)

Cause: Calls to this Front End failed 5 times with failure final responses.  Check other MOM alerts for more details.

2-

The Mediation Server service has encountered a major call completion problem with these Trunk peer(s).

Affected PSTN Trunk Service Cluster(s):

(the asterisk device name)

------------------------------------------

what does "call" mean? audio, video, conference and even the IM? and how can I check these failed calls knowing that I have installed the reporting service on the frontend server but I don't know how to get these failed calls.

Thank you

If we're talking about the mediation component, we're specifically talking about audio/PSTN calls between Lync and your Asterisk.

Check your Lync event logs around this time to see if you can find out more details.  Then, start in your Call Diagnostic Records -> Top Failures Report and try to drill down until you see issues or find a pattern.

Hi,

the error message is related to Mediation server. so it's having problems sending and receiving voice calls with Asterisk. Seems to me that users might have call control issues which is common in a not recommended PSTN Gateway setup.

Thank you , the report is very useful, do you know which diagnostic IDs or response codes are the most important to check?

I have the asterisk device added to SCOM, I don't know if there are certain services, processes or log files I need to monitor.

Thank you

Hi Mohammad,

Please check the TCP port in the PSTN gateway. The port you set in topology builder should be consistent with PSTN gateway.

Please try to publish the topology builder again and make sure the replication is correct.

Please also enable the Lync server logging tool on FE server and Mediation server, then you will find the error step of issue.

Here is the link of using the Lync logging tool:

Hi Mohammad. You mentioned that you got the answer. Would you mind sharing the answer? Having a similar issue and would love to know what your root issue was and how you solved.

Thanks!
