Lync Client keeps logging out

Hi,

Get a very strange issue on some users with Lync Clients. The client automatically logs out and then logs back in again, saying the connection to the server was lost. Some users have this happen approx every 300 seconds, others only a few times a day. The issue is always the same with the log below.

Any ideas on what is causing this would be really appreciated. There is nothing in the logs on the Lync Server.

Thanks

How many users?

How often?

What OS?

What's the lync topology (std or ent)?

Any firewalls, software/hardware?

Any other connectivity issues, can you persistently ping the lync FE while the issue happens

thanks

Hi Tom,

Thanks for getting back to me,

We currently have a test system which has five active internal users, all on Windows 7 Pro x86.

It is Lync Standard, running on Windows 2008 R2 SP1, which is on VSphere ESX 4.1. The NIC is VMXNET3. The VM hosts are three Dell R710's.

I thought it might have been a network issue, but the server remains pingable throughout.

I even moved the Virtual host to another host, but it made no difference. When it starts the log off/log on cycle on one machine, it won't log off on another. In fact I can be on a call on mine, when it is logging off on someone else.

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

If the network factor is excluded, please use this diagnostic tool Best Practices Analyzer to check whether the configuration is set according to Microsoft best practices.

Paul,

Looks like underlying TCP connection is getting dropped.

SIP_MSG_PROCESSOR 09DEC04C ThrottleRequestForConnection failed 80ee0067

C:\Err\amd64>err 80ee0067
# for hex 0x80ee0067 / decimal -2131885977
  RTC_E_SIP_TCP_FAIL                                             rtcerr.h
# Fails to make a TCP connection
# 1 matches found for "80ee0067"

How many network hops are there between the clients and the server ? (From client do tracert <Server>)

The issue could be due to TCP idle timeout, Is TCP idle timout configured on any of the devices in between, Servers or the Host ?

Is there any firewall or Network protection App like Symantec EndPoint protection installed ?

Hi Kristof,

We have just updated our Lync Clients by installing patch http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=2571543 which has resolved this problem for us. The original version is 4.0.7577.0, and installing this update put us to 4.0.7577.314.

Hi,

we are also experiencing this on our Lync environment, especially on wireless clients. A continuous ping to the Lync server does not drop, but clients sometimes do logoff/logon. Any updates on this?

Thanks, Kristof

Is anyone having this issue with the Lync 2013 clients?  We are having the exact same issue with Lync 2013.  Clients have been updated with the latest patches and the problem still persists.

I'm having the same issue with a single Lync 2013 client in our environment.  Currently looking for a solution. Will update with any additional information.  So far just a single client has exhibited this behaviour.

We get this with 2 or the 3 people using Lync. it's to the point we're considering going back to another client completely. We moved to Lync to get away from Skype, but now MS bought Skype so i'm going to have to avoid both and i'm bummed about it.

I really like Lync because it's thin comparatively and not bloated, as well because it stores conversations in exchange, but i can't have this logging us in and out, and it's doing it far more frequently than 300 seconds. it goes in cycles, and sometimes does it every 20 to 30 seconds.

We are also seeing this issue with Lync 2013 clients connecting through Lync Online in Office 365. It is not isolated to one client. It is happening on multiple clients, and the disconnects are per client as they do not happen concurrently. We believe that whatever is causing this is also affecting our ability to sometimes do some sharing options, like desktop sharing, because that ability is also intermittent. We have checked and double checked our network settings per Microsoft, and even gone beyond what they have recommended. Has anyone had any success in resolving this issue?

We were able to resolve our issues with Lync 2013 clients, by changing the timeout on the gateway (took it to the max - 9999sec). Also our gateway appliance has specific settings and services for Office365. It took several requests to the vendor to get this information.

Hi!

We're currently experiencing the same connection problems using Lync Online. Could you please detail how did you resolve it? Where is this timeout you mentioned?

Thanks in advance
