Lync Access
We are a school district, we don't have a Lync server its hosted by Microsoft. For some reason our staff users can login to Lync via the Office client but the students have to use a web client. Is there a difference or setting I could enable to allow all users to use the Client on the PC?

Which web client are you referring to?  Are the students also enabled for Microsoft Lync in your tenant?

In office 365 under Apps there is an option for Lync thats what the students are currently using. I'm just trying to figure out why the staff can use the installed client. And by that I mean the one that installs with office 2013.

Hi,

Please check if students enable Lync function. If these students have enabled Lync account, then these Lync accounts can login Lync client.

It was, I've found that under the students accounts if you try and login it give a certificate error. If you run the Lync program as an admin it then lest them login. The problem now is why. My account and other staff accounts are not admin accounts. So in that respect there are no differences

The Error is "There was a problem acquiring a personal certificate required to sign in. But if I run the program as admin it works. The problem is we're using mandatory profiles and they don't allow the user to add certs to the personal store so I can't find a way around this. Unless someone knows of a way to get specific programs to run as admin without prompting for credentials I don't want to give to the students.
