Lync 2013 client does not show Outlook contact number(s)

The Lync client will only display Outlook 2010 contact (Personal contacts, not GAL) phone numbers if there is no email address configured on it.  The numbers for each contact are formatted in e.164 as +1 (xxx) xxx-xxxx. If I simply remove the email address from the contact, the number becomes available in Lync 2013 as an option to call the contact.

Ideas anyone??

Hi,

Did the issue happen only for you or for multiple users?

Did you receive any warning messages on Lync client?

Please press Ctrl and right click Lync icon in the taskbar, open configuration information. On the open page check if EWS status and MAPI status are OK.

Please also check if you update the KB2863908, if so, remove it and test again.

Best Regards,

Eason

Hi,

I confirm that removing KB2863908 solves the issue. I had the exact same issue with phone number from personal outlook contacts not showing. EWS and MAPI were OK, I checked everything on the clients and server until I found this suggestion of removing this update.

So thanks Eason Huang!

I hope the next update will definitely solve the issue...

Gael

All,

At first sight, uninstalling that KB update seems to fix the issue: When you now add the contact to your Lync buddy list, the correct display name (like "givenname surname") of the contact is shown in the buddy list and the associated telephone numbers (work, home, etc.) are displayed.

But, when you sign out and then sign back in again with the Lync Client or restart the Lync client, then the telephone numbers are gone again as well as the Display Name, which is replaced by the email address.

any idea how to fix this?

many thanks,

Hanno98

sorry Hanno98, I can't help you. But for me it worked for some time after uninstalling the KB but the problem suddenly came back for not reason I can understand. That is very annoying!!!

If someone has a definitive solution I would also be very interested.

Gael

Running in to the exact same issue in our domain.  Removing the KB is not a permanent fix.  Any other ideas?
