Lync 2013 audio video traffic

We currently have a main datacenter that Lync 2013 is installed in. All DNS records point to the EDGE and FE server that are located in the main datacenter. We have many remote sites that are connected to the datacenter using a mpls connection. We are concerned that the audio video traffic from clients located on the remote networks will cause network bandwidth issues, as it goes over the MPLS connection. Is there anything I can do in Lync to compress this traffic, or should I stand up another FE box at some of the remote sites?

Hi,

you can configure CAC (Call Admission Control) to limit audio and video traffic between regions.

for deatails, please reference this article, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398334.aspx

Hi,Skipster,

You can configure CAC and bandwidth limits for audio and video traffic as above guy mentioned, however,if a large amount of remote users will utilize audio/video and it's a critical task for your remote site users,I suggest you to stand up another FE box(standard edition will be ok) at your remote site.

Sharon
