I've setup and have configured Lync 2013 on prem, and have configured Hybrid to work with Lync online (Office 365 wave 15).
The on-prem environment has Exchange 2013 configured in Hybrid mode with Office 365. ADFS/Single Sign On is setup and working, and DirSync is setup and working.
I've setup a number of test users in my on-prem lync environment, and have successfully moved the test users from on-prem, up to Office 365, and back down to on-prem to confirm Hybrid mode is configured.
I'm having issues with presence information though for my Office 365 homed users. If I sign in as a local on-prem lync user, and add a lync contact to my list who is homed within Lync online, no presence information is displayed for that user.
I believe this to be something to do with the _sipfederationtls SRV record. If I set this record to point towards my Lync On Prem environment (sip.contoso.com - points to external IP of edge servers) no presence information is displayed for added Lync online
users. If however, I set _sipfederationtls to point to lyncfed.online.lync.com, presence information is displayed.
Reading through the microsoft documentation suggests that the _sipfederationtls SRV record should only be pointed towards the on-prem environment when hybrid mode has been configured.
Note that if I ping sip.contoso.com from my edge servers, my front end pool IP addresses are returned.
