Lync 2013 Contact card with incorrect information

Hi Guys,

I am sure other Lycn admins would have experienced this issue before.

Lync contact card retains the old workphone number that was assigned to the user earlier. When his AD and Lync are updated with new phone number, Lync contact card adds new phone number and does not delete the old contact which causes lots of confusion. This can be resolved by deleting Lync account(20 min replication) and then recreating a new account with same details but clearly this is not ideal in cases where user has organized lots of meetings etc.

Can some one please tell me why it happens as its not always the same, some times it removes it and some times it does not.

What regkey can I use to wipe it off ?

Where is this contact card information stored?

Hi,

please check that contact is not stored/saved locally in Outlook, since this will not be updated.

You could also try to run Update-CsAddressBook on Your Lync server to see if it helps.

Outlook contact card contains correct information and yes we already tried updating address book.

Can I delete contact card anyway?

This is a known behavior, sometimes the local Galcontacts.db will not be updated corect and has to be deleted manual.

You can chnage the behavior of the Lync client to use only the webdownload for contact informations through the clientpolicy.

Set the AddressBookAvailability to Websearchonly.

To fix the most problems are update to the latest client and server version and renew the adressbookfiles

User's in our firm are using Lync March client, and we are on CU10.

I dont think this issue is local as every one else in the business is seeing 2 phone numbers in contact card (one old and one new). The workaround is deleting Lync account and recreating Lync account, but this means that I have to recreate address book and send meeting invite with new conference ids.

Outlook address book has correct number, incorrect number only comes up in Lync so it is definitely getting incorrect information from Lync backend.

Manually delete the GalContacts.db and GalContacts.db.idx is not going to help here as the entry in the Lync address book on SQL is faulty. Even if I delete it, Lync will down address book with incorrect entry

Is there any field in SQL backend that I can delete to get rid of incorrect number?

Any way that I can flush user's address book from backend

It is not supported to edit the Lync SQL database.

The adressbook files will be created on the Lync fileshare webservices\abfiles\00000....

You can delete this folder and run updte-csadressbook through the Lync PS to recreate thsi folder with the corect data.
