Lync 2010 client silent installation in custom directory

Hi,

I am trying to install Lync 2010 client installation silently in custom directory but whatever switch i use the installation is happening only in C drive.

I followed http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg425733.aspx

LyncSetup.exe -v" /install /qn INSTALLDIR=\"D:\Program Files\""

LyncSetup.exe /Install /Silent  /v" INSTALLDIR="D:\Program Files\""

LyncSetup.exe /Install /Silent  /v"INSTALLDIR="D:\Program Files\""

LyncSetup.exe /Install /Silent  /v"INSTALLDIR=\"D:\Program Files\""

LyncSetup.exe -v" /qn INSTALLDIR=\"D:\Program Files\""

None of them are working.  Log files (OCBoot) from location C:\Users\Administrator\Tracing says

LOGGING STARTED
64 Bit Setup is running, checking for NOX86
NOX86 length : '2'

Parameter(s) incorrect. Displaying help.

LyncSetup /Option

Install Options
/Install - Installs all files
/Uninstall - Removes all files

Display Options
/Silent - no UX displayed

ENDED LOGGING

I even tried to extract the exe file and use .msi file to installation.

Error shown: Microsoft Lync 2010 must be installed by running the appropriate Lync Setup Executable.

Please help with proper swithces

Regards,

Vikram Naik

I know this is an old thread; but here's the answer on the silent install to a non-default directory:

It can't be done.

Per TechNet (Bold for emphasis):

Command-Line Argument Description

/Silent

Suppresses the installation user interface, and uses default values for other installation options (for example, installation directory). This argument can be used along with the /Install, /Uninstall, and /Repair arguments.
