Hi,

Can you confirm that your 'external access policy' and 'Access Edge Configuration' settings have been set correctly as per this article; http://www.gecko-studio.co.uk/configuring-lync-and-skype-federation/

Additionally (although perhaps irrelevant), your New Public Provider string is missing the icon component and should read as below;

New-CsPublicProvider -Identity Skype -ProxyFqdn federation.messenger.msn.com -IconUrl https://images.edge.messenger.live.com/Messenger_16x16.png -VerificationLevel 2 -Enabled 1

If you're able to get a trace from the Edge server (or even the client) it will shed some light on the problem.

Kind regards
Ben

That link is irrelevant as he hasn't even mentioned Asterisk.

Hi GreeMann,

To better understand the issue, I would like to confirm the following information.

1. Make sure that the certificate on Edge server must be from a Public CA, because the internal CA certificate on Edge server which is not trusted by Skype.

2. Can you communicate with other federated partners ?

3. Can you double check the PIC information is correct ?

Best regards,

Eric

Hey GreeMann,

As per your given information this looks like everything is correct. Based on my experience to start the Skype & enterprise federation

Step 1 ~ you need to be added as a contact of Skype user (..example...abc.xyz@outlook.com) in your Lync contact list. Once its added you will see as presence unknown.

Step 2 ~ After adding the contact in your Lync contact list, You need to contact Skype user to accept your contact request.

Step 3~ Once its accepted, you need to initiate a chat with Skype user, the after few minutes you will be able to see the presence

hi Eric

you could be right about my issues since i use local certificate for my Edge server. however for more detail here is my edge configurations.

i have used 4 IPs in my server actually i used separated ips as follow.

10.10.0.1 NATTED to public IP accessible externally edges.ok.com  i use this ip for edge server to communicate with my internal servers like domain etc and i have used internal certificate for it too.

these 3 ip are used for video, conferencing calling and i have used public certificate.

20.10.20.1 sip.ok.com

20.10.20.2 av.ok.com

20.10.20.3 webconf.ok.com

but for skype registration i have used edges.ok.com  which does make sense because i used internal certificate for it and since skype  communication works through public CA i think i have to replace my internal ca which used for edges with public one?

note: all those IPs are accessible externally and NATTED To public ip accordingly.

Hi GreeMann,

Yes, a public certificate is required.

The related Technet article for your reference.

Hi GreeMann,

You should use the Access Edge service fully qualified domain name (sip.ok.com) in PIC registration.

Hi GreeMann,

As for your questions.

1. You should not be able to see the Lync user's photo which is stored in their own AD.

2. The feature is still under development.

In addition, the vedio call is availble now, you can install the new skype (7.1.0.105).

Best regards,

Eric
