Hi Mani,

For Lync external user access, Lync edge and reverse proxy (ARR or WAP) are required.

Let me know about your current design, so that I can guide you for migration to Lync 2013.

Hi Mani,

To upgrade to Lync Server 2013, please refer to the following document.

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj205369.aspx

For Enterprise Voice, all dial plans/voice policies/usages etc are shared between Lync server versions, all you really need to do is to update your Lync topology to change the PSTN gateway/trunk to be "homed" on the 2013 mediation server pool and update any PSTN gateways/SIP trunks to point to the 2013 pool.

Also you should at least update the FQDN of Lync Mediation Server or Mediation Pool on Avaya.

Some related article and document for your reference.

Mani,

To enable internal users for Lync access from internet, you have to deploy Lync Edge server and reverse proxy server for mentioned Lync modalities to work.
