Lync 2010 Online Meetings certificate issue.

Hi everyone!

When people click on a online meeting URL, they get the following certificate warning on their web browsers.

"There is a problem with this website's security certificate"

And then people are given the option to continue or close the website page.

I am using a wildcard certificate from a Public Authority on all my Lync Servers (Front-End, Edge, Director, Monitor). Everything else works fine except online meetings. The wildcard certificate includes all the SANs of every sub domain I am using in my Lync environment. For example: meet.companyname.org, pool01.phone.companyname.org, dialin.companyname.org, etc.

The Lync certificate wizard shows the wildcard certificate being used for Server default, WebServicesInternal, and WebServicesExternal.

Now, I've heard that Lync doesn't play well with wildcard certificates. How can I fix this?

Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

Try entering in your meeting url into an SSL Checker like DigiCert's: http://www.digicert.com/help/

This will tell you if the certificate is installed correctly.

DigiCert also has a utility to help with installation of certificates: https://www.digicert.com/util/

Thanks so much for your reply!

I tried the DigiCert SSL checker and found out one of the SAN for my front-end server (poo01.phone.companyname.org) did not match the name on the certificate, which is weird because it's a wildcard certificate (*.companyname.org).

Anyways, I had to issue a new certificate and include poo01.phone.companyname.org to the SANs. I should also mention the certificate was for my TMG 2010 server. I am using this as a reverse proxy. Once I installed the new certificate on the HTTPS listener on TMG there was no more certificate error when doing an online meeting.
