Lync 2010 Client Relocation Process

We are in a pilot phase for Lync 2010. We had to move a user from one registrar to another, and all re-occurring meeting links no longer work (as expected). Is there something that could have been done ahead of time to find all these meetings and change to the new meeting\conference ID? Or configure the user to use the same information in the new pool?

What is the process others are using when moving users from one pool to another? I'm trying to make this as seamless to the users as I can.

Hello Sandra,

You can move user using Lync Server control Panel or Management Shell.

After SIP URI movement to target pool server, all the active meetings created by the user. For example, if a user has configured a my meeting conference, that conference will still be available in the new Lync Server 2010 pool, after the user has been moved. The details to access that meeting will still be the same conference URL and conference ID. The only difference is that the conference is now hosted in the new Lync Server 2010 pool.

Command for SIP movement:

If you are moving Legacy (OCS 2007 R2) user then use below commands:

Move-CsLegacyUser -Identity "user name" -Target "pool_name"

If moving Lync 2010 one pool to another pool use below commands:

Move-CsUser -Identity "user name" -Target "pool_name"

Hope it will cover all your questions.

Let me know your feedback.

Thanks Balu, however the meeting information is not the same and all her re-occurring meetings are failing today. Moving the user all within Lync 2010 (we never were OCS 2007, this is a fresh install) works without a hitch. But all her meetings are messed up (and she is a IT Leader and booked a lot of re-occurring meetings).

We have a CMS site (which is where she was located) and branch sites with SBS servers. She was moved to one of the Branch sites, therefore her meeting information changed. She's not all that happy to have to re-do all her meetings and so I was wondering if there was a trick I could do to fix her up (or at least do it differently for the next user move).

Thanks,

Sandra

Hi,Sandra,

Per my knowledge, the SBS/SBA does not have conferencing capabilities and host conference, thus even though the user has moved from CMS site to branch site, the conference should still be hosted on the CMS pool.

Would you please recreate a meeting for her after moving and see if it works? Also please enable Lync server logging (with S4,SipStack, JoinLauncher, meetingMCU checked),and enable Lync client logging for this user then use snooper to analyze these logs to get more specific information for troubleshooting.
