Lync 2010 - Want to block co-worker, but he doesn't display in Lync

Hi,

I want to block a male co-worker in Lync. I'd like him to be unable to see my status. When I enter his name in Lync, his name doesn't display. Why? Did he block me? If so, can he still see my status? If not, can I do that to him - make my name unsearchable in Lync? Or what else can I do?

Thank you for your help.

Hi Ominista,

Please try to update your address book.

1. Execute the following command from the Windows Command Prompt run as an administrator.

reg add HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Communicator /v GalDownloadInitialDelay /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

2. Exit the Lync client and manually delete the GalContacts.db and GalContacts.db.idx files from the users profile directory.

User Profile:

%userprofile%\ AppData\Local\Microsoft\Communicator\sip_<username@domain>\

3. Restart Lync and wait for a few minutes, and then search the contact which you want to block and change Privacy Relationship to Blocked Contacts.

Best regards,

Eric

Thank you for your response. You gave me an idea. I created a message in Outlook with this man's name and right-clicked on his name to access the IM message icon. I clicked it, added him as a contact, and blocked him.

Thanks again.
