Lync now appears as an option in WSUS.

Does that mean that Lync Phones (in our case HP 4110 and HP 4120 phones) can be updated with new phone code from a server that doesn't have Lync Server?  I.e. just a Windows Server 2008 with WSUS role installed and configured?

If yes, do you know of a document that explains how to do this?

Lync Phone Edition (LPE) will not leverage WSUS for updating firmware.

Earlier in the thread - it says that Lync is an option for WSUS.

You're saying WSUS will not support upgrading Lync phone's software.

So to summarize:

"Lync is an option for WSUS" means that Lync Client and/or Lync Server software can be upgraded by WSUS but not LPE?

There should be a Product Classification for "Microsoft Lync Server and Microsoft Lync", under this item will list the desktop client and server versions. Note the mobile client will not be updated
