Lync2010 and history

Hi,

We're using lync2010 in our company.Unfortunately we have users who complain that the history isn't saved anymore.

When renaming the folders communicator and the regkey hkcu/software/microsoft/communicator ,it is normal again.

In that sense ,in PIM under settings microsoft exchange for outlook is available again. However after a few days,it disappears from settings and history can't be saved anymore..It gets even more weird, one user has PIM available when working at home, when working at the office it is gone...

any ideas?

Hi kustomgraphics,

To better understand the issue , I would like to collect the following information.

 1.  How many users affected by this issue ?

 2.  Is there any client policy or GPO assigned to these users ?

 3.  one user has PIM available when working at home, when working at the office it is gone.   In my opinion, it is not possible, this configuration is saved in user profile on Lync Server, it should be the same regardless of where the user uses Lync.

I doubt that there must be something wrong with the windows profile on client workstation.

Best regards,

Eric

Hi Eric,

At the moment we like 10 users dealing with the issue, however if i rename the communicator folder and the regkey,it goes well for them..only a few come back saying the issue popped up again.

We have indeed gpo's and the like applied (financial institution),so i guess i will have to check with the guys responsible for it.

I found it hard to believe as well but the that user indeed showed me the settings when she's at home and when at the office. When working from home ,it passes over vpn.

cheers

Werner

Hi Werner,

Can you ask the effected user to use Lync 2013 Basic client and test the issue whether it happens again ?

Eric

If you have Outlook installed, run E-mail Configuration test... and verify that Autodiscover is accessible problem free since Lync depends on this to properly store/retrieve Conversation History.

Thanks / rgds,
