Low disk space
I have Gateway Solo laptop upgraded to Windows XP home edition. After upgrade I lost some programs and pictures, then I found them. Now I get message about low disk space. Hard drive is 6 GB and free space is 26MB. Total for programs installed is approx. 1 GB. Cannot find any docs or pictures now. What do I delete to free up space on hard drive? What our my options? Cool grandpa1 person needs an answerI do too

Welcome to Microsoft Answers! Here are some tips to free some space from your hard drive: Go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>click Disk Cleanup. Then, select the stuff you want to clean out and click OK. Also using Disk Cleanup, click "More Options". Then, while at the "System Restore" section, press "Clean Up". This will take a couple of seconds, but you can save a lot of space. Consider Googling or Binging "ccleaner" and using it to also free up space on your hard drive. And that's about it. Be sure to also defragment your drive (Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>click "Disk Defragmenter") if you haven't done it in a while.
