Low Memory Error, Memory Commit Charge near 100%

I've a client with a Lenovo A540 All-in-one, 8GB RAM, 1TB SSD drive, Win 8.1. She is occasionally getting a Windows low memory error pop-up:  "Close programs to prevent information loss. Your computer is low on memory."

The computer is relatively new, has had an active BitDefender subscription installed from day 1 and AFAIK, has the latest drivers installed. Memory is managed by Windows (no changes made to paging file settings).

I've run diagnostics when the error is occurring.

System shows Commit Charge at over 95%, which I suspect is related to the low memory error.

Sysinternal Process Explorer memory results look wacky too.

Any insights about how to identify the culprit here? I'm offsite in another city and troubleshooting via remote, so must be careful about disabling startup services.

Thanks.

Low memory is either page file or actual memory.  You can check the page file to ensure it is system manged.  I doubt it is actual memory

Hi. As I mentioned in original post, the paging file is system managed. I've made no manual changes to it.

You'll see from the Commit Charge screenshot that Windows allocated over 30GB and it's at over 95% capacity. The question is, what's being allocated the page file memory? Does the linked Process Explorer screenshot offer any clues about the culprit?

Hi Veni-Vidi-Vici,

Did the issue occur when we start the machine and it will persist all the time or  it won`t occur until we operated the machine for a while?
To troubleshoot whether this issue is caused by third party service, we could perform a clean boot to have a troubleshoot.

I agree with ZigZag, we cannot rule out the hardware issue.
Considering this is a new machine, it must be in warranty. We could contact the the manufacturer to check the health of the RAM.

Please check the Event Viewer for any error or messages recorded in the Event Viewer to troubleshoot this issue.
