Lots of confusion about upgrades
Where possible I am trying to get upgrade info from Microsoft's various websites. I can not find anything that talks about not being able install Win 7 Home premium on a disk that had Winxp Pro. I know I will have to clean install but some people are reporting that MS requires Home to home or Pro to Pro. If true, does anyone have a link to a MS page? I have been led to believe that my $49.95 Home premium upgrade will allow me to clean install and my Winxp pro will validate the transaction as legal.

"How do I know if I am eligible for this offer? [the pre-sales offer] To be eligible for the offer, you need to be running a genuine copy of the Windows XP or Windows Vista operating systems." (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/buy/offers/pre-order-faq.aspx) AFAIK, the "like-to-like" upgrades refer to the "free upgrade options" from manufacturers when you buy a new pc.Mobile AMD64 3000+, VIA Apollo K8T800 chipset, 1 G RAM, ATIRadeonMobility 9700, 20x DVDRW, C:XPSP3 (55G),D:WIN7 (25G),F:DATA (250G)
