Lost protocols on NIC, can't restore them
Hi I think after installing VMware Workstation 6 beta, the properties of my networkcards have changed. When I open the properties page, you'd normally see the networking protocols (tcp/ip) and the installed network clients and the name of the nic. But this is all empty now, although the nic is still working. When I click on INSTALL to install a client, service or protocol I get the error: "Could not add requested feature. The error is: The system cannot find the file specified" Problem is that I can't change the IP address for this nic and because I'm in different networks all the time, this isn't working. I tried to remove the nic, reboot and reinstall. But now when reinstalling the driver it reports that it can't load the driver. In the hardware list it shows with an exclamation mark and error 31. I've now removed VMware Workstation, reboot, reinstall nic, but nothing seems to help.... I'm stuck. Reinstalling or repairing Vista is the last I would like to do. Gabrie

Have you tried a system restore from a restore point made prior to installing VMware?

Unfortunately not. Playing with the driver now has created new restore points and I think I haven't set the diskspace large enough, because I only have restore points for yesterday not earlier. Gabrie
