Lost permissions to my own user account somehow
I have a HP pavillion dv9894ca with Vista Home Premium 64bit, only two months old. Somehow all the permissions for my only user account ( with admin privledges ) got changed to read only, and the user was removed in the security permissions, or lost full access rights. This appliedacross all four partitions on my hard drive and all folders and subfolders. I could not even save to the Documents folder anymore. When I reset all the attributes to not read only ( which I had to do to the C:/users folder ) and add the user to the security permissions, as soon as I reboot it is all read only again and permissions for the user are lost, the user has no access. I did not do this and it had been working fine up to this point. I have windows defender, and AVG. No viruses were found. I have not ran any questionable programs. Windows Malicous remover finds nothing. Even if it was a virus, is it really that easy to hack the user security permissions in Vista? You would think the security settings would be the most difficult to change through a hack. How could this happen and how can I easily revert it back to the way it should be?

Can you try performing a system restore and see if that helps. Also try booting into safe mode and see if you see similar results. Also while in safe mode, create another admin user and see if that gives you any respite.
