Hi, Before moving on, I would like to explain that the Event Log service issue and network connection issue may be two problems. At this time, lets focus on the network connection issue. As DHCP Client actually starts, lets check it on services side: Check DHCP Client service ================================ 1.Click "Start", input "services.msc" (without quotation marks) to Start Search bar and press "Enter". 2.Double click the DHCP Client service. 3.Please try to Start and Stop this service. If you receive any error message, please let me know the detail information. However, if you receive dependency error, you can refer to the following steps to check dependency services: 4.Choose Dependencies Tab and remember the services name. 5. In the service list window, find the dependency services and try to start them. Hope it helps.

I had a similar problem, at the cmd prompt: netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt works for some, but didn't finish the fix for me, ...ran dial-a-fix, all options not completely fixed, then fed symptoms intohttp://winhlp.com/wxnet.htm and found complete instructions to uninstall and re-install TCP from the net stack, this worked for me (with my notes in arial): How to uninstall and reinstall TCP/IP If TCP/IP is not working and the command "netsh interface ip reset resetlog.txt" fails to resolve the problem, you can try the following procedure in Windows XP or Windows 2003 Server, which basically enables the TCP/IP uninstall function that is normally not available in these operating systems. In brief, you have to do the following: Enable the uninstalling of TCP/IP Uninstall TCP/IP Reinstall TCP/IP Reboot Complete procedure Open regedit (click on [Start], Run..., type: regedit , click on [OK] In the left pane navigate to the following two keys and delete them:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WinsockHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WinSock2 Optional backup of the TCP/IP configuration file: Close regedit, open Windows Explorer, and locate the nettcpip.inf file in %winroot%\inf (for example in: C:\WINDOWS\inf). Make a backup copy to restore later, if needed. Open the nettcpip.inf in the editor (for example, in notepad.exe). Under the section [MS_TCPIP.PrimaryInstall], change "Characteristics = 0xa0" to "Characteristics = 0x80" and resave the file. Open Network Connections, right-click on Local Area Connection, and select Properties. Click on Install, Protocol, Have disk, and type the path to the inf folder you used above, for example: c:\windows\inf Choose TCP/IP from the list. This will take you back to the properties screen, but now the [Uninstall] button is available, which was the purpose of the above procedure. Highlight TCP/IP and click on [Uninstall]. (note: if uninstall tcp complains about simple tsp services... you must uninstall networking components from windows & reboot then try again)in device manager remove all net adapters, they'll re-load at reboot, bringing TCP protocol with them (may not need steps below) reboot at this point. Ignore the warning messages that a lot of services are failing. Optional: If you saved a backup copy of nettcpip.inf, restore it now. Open Network Connections, right click on Local Area Connection, and select Properties In the properties of Local Area Connection click Install, Protocol, "Have disk", and type the same path again, for example: c:\windows\inf Choose TCP/IP from the list and install it. Reboot. reinstall simple network services at this point we can now ping google, and MS auto updates start downloading. firefox browsed but IE didn't come up. OK need to upgrade it anyway.

I just tried the above and I still have no wired or wireless connection. This HP desktop had connection until we moved the church office across town to a new location and are using a new service. The rest of the computers used work just fine but this one will not connect for nothing. I do computer repair for a living and this one has me scratching my head. I've disabled the tunnel adapters reset netsh restarted the pc and still it won't connect to the internet. I did find in services that there are some Microsoft services that have been stopped and I can't seem to find how to restart them. I'm just short of pulling my hair out, HELP!
