Lost my icon for add & remove program, receiving other email addresses and mail on my email, slow computer, all this because I used some other program on my computer just to clean up disk space, cookies and disk defragmentation.
I used the pc doctor 5 fix program that came with my computer to do a disk and cookie cleanup instead of using the program under accessories. In doing this I lost the Norton program, which I now have again, I lost the icon for add and remove programs also I am receiving other peoples email on my address. I have tried to do a system restore with no luck. The add & remove program is still on my computer but it not do anything, I'm guessing that I damaged a few programs & files with this pc doctor program. I need some help on what to do next. My computer runs extremely slow at doing basic tasks.1 person needs an answerI do too

Hello sassy kat System Restore seems to be a solution to try, but you cannot do a System Restore with Norton installed until you follow the instructions below. Is this your problem with System Restore?http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/sharedtech.nsf/0/c7a9848df95596b9882570c900605bf5?OpenDocument.

Do you have this folder on the hard drive C:\I386 If so you will need to tell your computer you have the files on your PC. Start/Run and type in Regedit OK Then navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup You will see various entries here on the right hand side. The one we want is called: SourcePath It probably has an entry pointing to your CD-ROM drive, and that is why it is asking for the XP CD. All we need to do is change it to: C:\ Double click the SourcePath setting and a new box will pop up allowing you to make the change. Now restart your computer and try it out Start/Run and type insfc /scannow (there is a space before /)OK Typically the "Insert CD" message has only an OK and Cancel button. Press OK, allowing it to fail. The next dialog will typically ask you to provide the location of the CD-ROM; just type in the full path of the I386 directory

Did you get any restore CDs at all with your system? If you did "explore" the CDs and look for that i386 folder. If you find it copy it to "C" so that you haveC:\i386
