Lost internet connection
Using Windows XP Home on 2 laptops, we have lost the abilty to connect to the internet. So fixes suggesting we download things don't work.Computer 1-Online through a dial up modem, was working fine, downloaded a windows update then disconnected itself. Could not reconnect through modem. Computer diagnostics said modem was working fine. Attempted to reconnect with both AOL and IE 7, neither would work. The computer would not open the phone line to get a dial tone.Computer 2-Wireless connection through ATT 2 Wire modem. Other computer working through this modem just fine. Computer suddenly will not connect either AOL or IE 7 through the wireless broadband. Network Connections shows the connection exists and is strong. There are suggestions about putting in a new network key but the wireless connection is on auto detect the key, no change was made to that. I am considering a system restore on this computer to a few days ago when it was working fine. Oh, the dumb news, neither of these have current virus protection.1 person needs an answerI do too

When there is an Internet connection downloads from Microsoft the free Security essentials it is a very Good Ant-Virus AntiSpyware application.http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/2.
