I just completed the upgrade to windows 7 from windows vista and I completed the custom upgrade knowing I'd have to re-install all my programs. However I now have lost over 100 GB of hard drive space & I can't understand why. When I go to the Windows.old folder, it's only 34.2 GB. So what happened to my other 70 GB of space? Vista was only taking up 32 GB of space when I got the computer new a few weeks ago.

Hi, What is the model of your PC? Is it IBM? If so, the IBM Rescue and Recovery Backups will take up a lot spaces. Or any other backup software install could be under consideration. What is the total spaces of your hard drive? Could you describ more on it? You can then use the handy program TreeSize (freeware) to find out where your used space is being utilized the most, finding any potential large files/folders you may want to delete.

In the drop down menu, select the drive you want to clean up and click OK. The drive will be scanned.3. In the next window, select the Clean up system files button.4. Select the drive again and click OK. Take a look at the sizes of all the temporary files.5. If you are sure that you do not need any files from the Windows.old folder, click to select the Previous Windows installation check box, and then click OK.6. Select the More Options Tab. In the System Restore and Shadow Copies section, click the Clean up button and click OK. 7. In the next window, select the Delete Button.This will remove all of the temporary files, including Windows.old and all but the latest System Restore Points.Hope this helps.
