Lost access to onw of my XP folder ...
Hi,here's the basics :I installed win7 on my laptop using dual boot procedures - no issue herewin 7 works fine for many things like internet, medias, etc...My XP partition wouldn't show in the My Computer so I mounted it as 'XP files' in my Windows 7 C:So far no issues, I have access to my XP files...but for some reason now I completely lost access to the MY PICTURES folder that's on my XP partition, and only that folder. I do have access to my music etc.In win7 it would show the folder but when I tried to access it it would grant me accessI rebooted in XP, same thing, no way to access the my pictues folderI rebooted in Win7 and I can now see the content of the folder but I'm not able to modify the security access to be the same as 'My music' folder for example.Anyone knows what I can do to have the security access the same as before?thks, alexWindows 7 Beta - Build 7000 on Dell Inspiron 1501 ** some glitches with WIFI **

ok, I regained access to my files by retaking ownership of the my pictures files in XP BUT WHY THE**** WINDOWS 7 DECIDES TO CHANGE PERMISSIONS ON A FOLDER ON ANOTHER PARTITION???? usuallly in linux when you access your NTFS drive, by default you only have read access ... why isn't it like this in windows 7??? This is definitely something people at MS should change. :( Windows 7 Beta - Build 7000 on Dell Inspiron 1501 ** some glitches with WIFI **

Just like with my dual boot setup (XP/7) the beta mapped my separate partition as C: and didn't assign a drive letter to my old XP partition. You can easily solve this by going to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Management -> Right mouse click on your XP partition -> Change Drive Letter and Paths... -> Add.. -> Assign the following drive letter.I have no idea why 7 would have modified the rights of your My Pictures folder though.

yep, well I was certainly able to mount my xp partition as a folder in my win7 C: drive but I don't understand why the security access changed. It doesn't seem to recognize any security access rights from XP... I've signaled the issue to the MS developpers.Windows 7 Beta - Build 7000 on Dell Inspiron 1501 ** some glitches with WIFI **
