Lost Administrator Privileges on all admin accounts on Vista Home Premium
I lost admin privileges on all accounts set up with admin privileges. Even new admin account created. I can't install software. OS is Vista Home Premium. How do I fix this without slamming down the original build?

Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet Forum. Firstly, to install applications, it is recommended to run setup.exe by right clicking it running as administrator. Moreover, in Windows Vista, Administrator account can be divided to two types: one is the built-in Administrator which is disabled by default, while another type is the Administrator group user accounts. As you mentioned above, you lost administrator privileges on all administrator accounts, I am wondering how you perform creating a new administrator account. I suspect that the account you created doesn't belong to administrator group. Could you tell me how you create account? I recommend that you manually enable the built-in administrator account and log on with this account to create a new administrator account. For how to enable the built-in administrator account, please refer to the following steps. 1. Open a command prompt in administrator mode by right-clicking and choosing Run as administrator 2. Type the following method: net user administrator /active:yes 3. Log out and log on Administrator account, then go to User Accounts to create a new account. By the way, you can try to run a command prompt and reset the security settings to see if it works. netsh winsock reset netsh firewall reset nbtstat -rr Then restart the computer to see if it works. Hope this helps. Thanks.
