Loss of network connection after update
Hi, After an update last night 30 Dec 09, Windows 7 does not recognize any media connected to my NIC. Verified that cable was good, and verified that the router was working. Attempted to disable/reenable network connection, but Windows 7 locked up. Started in safe-mode and went back to last restore point prior to the update and everything works again. Any ideas why this happened? I'd rather not block a critical update, and was hoping for a solution that doesn't involve that.

It wasn't an update unless you selected a driver that might possibly have a bearing, but since you've already restored to an earlier point, we won't know and we can't guess. I would suggest to at least look at your event logs for any errors. When you say it locked up, does that mean no keyboard/mouse input and you powered it down? Can we assume that you have manually selected updates to be installed and everything is now ok in the regards to all updates have now been applied? Hi, Please let us know the updates you have installed. Is there a NIC driver update included? Nicholas Li - MSFT Running Windows 7 64 upgrade from Vista 64 I have not been able to solve network problem. OS finds all network drives at fresh start however after a few hours network seems to dissolve. If i ask it to refresh - the green line at the top starts but never finishes. A sure way to crash the network for me is to "eject" a thumb drive. What is really strange it that Karen's Replicator will keep the connection for a specific network drive eventhough Explorer can not find the drive.. I have 2 other computers running Windows 7 without this problem on the same network?? Thanks

mpmajor, your question has no bearing or resemblence to the original problem above, if you want help start a new thread detailing your errors and what equipment is involved being specific to make, model and model # of equipment involved. Never heard of Karen's Replicator so a 3rd party app that's not needed.MCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message.
