Loss of Internet Connection when ICS is enabled
Hi there, currently my laptop (Windows XP) is connected wirelessly to the internet. I'm planning on using ICS and a LAN cable in order to share that connection with my desktop pc (Windows 7).Now, I understand I'm supposed to go to Network Connections > Local Area Connection > Properties > Advanced, and check the box that says "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection"The only problem is, once I check that box, I lose my laptop loses its connection to the internet. It goes back to normal once I uncheck the box. Any help is appreciated

Make the ICS setting on the Wireless Network Connection, not on the Local Area Connection.Boulder Computer MavenMicrosoft Most Valuable Professional

Your computer connects to the Internet through the Wireless Network Connection, so that's the connection that you want to share.Right-click the Wireless Network Connection, click Properties > Advanced , and put a check mark in the box that you indicated.Boulder Computer MavenMicrosoft Most Valuable Professional

The option to "Allow other networks etcetc" isn't present in Wireless Network Connection. It's still present in Local Area Connection though.

Un-check that box on the Local Area Connection and restart the computer. The box should appear on the Wireless Network Connection.Boulder Computer MavenMicrosoft Most Valuable Professional

Why you need to establish ICS connection? The easy way is to buy an Ethernet cable or patch cable to connect the Desktop to the router and use the Laptop as is wireless! nass -- http://www.nasstec.co.uk

The router is waaaaay to far for me to do that, and I've done this before, only now that somehow the laptop loses its connection whenever I try to establish ICS
