Losing internet connection for a very brief amount of time

Hello.

Since I upgraded to Windows 8.1 I've been having the same network issue: Internet connection seems to be lost for just a moment. I noticed that when I play an online game, sometimes, my actions aren't registered while I can see everything else going on fine. There are no ping spikes or lag spikes, it doesn't respond.

It also happens when I'm browsing a web. Sometimes the web is loading and then it will stay loading forever until I refresh it, then it'll load as fast as it does most of the time, as if the connection was lost while the page was loading.

However, it always shows that I have internet connection in the taskbar.

I'm using WiFi and this didn't happen when I was using Windows 7. I've installed all the windows updates and most of the drivers that I need. I haven't been able to find drivers for my network card and adapter since it is a quite old device so I had to use the drivers that come with windows.

Many thanks.

Hi,

This issue might be caused by either your network card or router.

Did this issue occur on your other device in the same network environment?

If yes, please check your router configuration or reset the router directly.

If no, do this:

1. Open the Device Manager by right click the start menu.

2. Look for Network Adapters and expand the node.

3. Right Click the Faulting Network Adapter.

4. Click Uninstall.

5. Click the Scan For Hardware changes button in the Ribbon on top.

Hi,

no, this wasn't happening using the same router, network adapter card and the rest of hardware while under windows 7.

When I do that it shows in other devices in the Device manager and it doesn't work.

I right click it I go to Update Driver Software > Browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer > Network adapters, and I select a driver that works (by working I mean what I explained before, losing the connection). For example.

This one which doesn't have any numbers works too with the same problems.

However, I found the drivers some days ago and I've been testing whether they work or not. The CD-ROM only had drivers for windows 98, xp and NT. I installed them through the CD and then through the device manager to no avail. The device was installed correctly in the device manager but it wasn't detecting my Wi-Fi network at home. I tried with the drivers for windows 98, xp and NT and none of them worked (after rebooting and trying stuff like disabling/enabling the adapter)

The name that appeared after installing the drivers was:

"Qualcomm Atheros AR5001X+ Wireless Network Adapter"  I've tried finding the drivers online but it seems my network adapter is too old and no drivers have been made for the latest windows versions.

Thanks for answering!

I was trying to post screen captures with this but it seems my account has not been verified.

Anyway this is a link to some screen caps showing the device when the driver is not installed and the drivers I've installed:

Hi Naister,

The link you provided is not available any more. Please check it and post it again.

In addition, please unplug the network adapter and clear the dust and reinstall it for test.

The link is

without the space before "org" since I am unable to post links. Well, I didn't clean it though I unplugged it to look for some info to find the drivers but It'll give it a try.

How is the current situation? You need to contact the Acer official support to see if there is new driver for your model applied to Windows 10.
